les frères lumières
"The Lumière brothers" were among the earliest filmmakers. Appropriately, "lumière" translates as "light". The Lumière held their first private screening of projected motion pictures March 22, 1895.
The brothers stated that "the cinema is an invention without any future", declined to sell their camera to other filmmakers, and turned their attentions to colour photography.

chez les fous
In 1925, Albert Londres, a French journalist, wrote At the insane's (Chez les fous in french). He visited French insane asylums, to tell, through his reportage "our duty is not to disencumber us of the insane, but to disencumber the insane one of its madness".
These images are a homage.
